Student Loans
If you are having difficulty repaying your student loans, the US Department of Education may allow you to defer your payments (but not your interest).  You must qualify with an economic hardship and usually must file a form requesting permission.  Do NOT, under any circumstances, stop paying your loans if you have the resources to do so!  Be sure that as soon as you realize you will be unable to make payments you contact the Department of Education to explore your options.  They are much more forgiving of people who contact them in advance rather than simply cease making payments.  Our attorneys can help you navigate the red tape to request a deferment or make modified payment arrangements.
